Environmental Notes

Preserving environment

I wonder how can we preserve our environment in the Fertile Crescent from being polluted, and protect the health of future generations, if anything in this area of the world is mixed with politics.

Like to say, if you talk in media about what is happening on the ground within forests and green space, and reveal that some people including officials are committing catastrophes against nature, you will be accused of interfering in a way or other in the government job or minister authority.

If you try to explain to some citizens how they might preserve their environment clean, they may not understand your words, without having a background to help them understand, and without the help of the crescent  states through real contribution and interest.

You might be even accused of any accusation, as sectarian or political.

So shall we wait a few decades more and suffer more, until realizing what other nations of the world realized and are trying to deal with?!

Even, if the whole matter is finally related to energy source and petrol use.

The message

The message you are trying to carry on over ethnicity, sects and religions, remains detained by political factor. What I meant in my previous summarizing document about preserving our environment, is that on one hand we are facing a great negligence of the Fertile Crescent states, on the other we are facing a great ignorance amid of different peoples’ communities.

The crescent as everyone in this area knows was fertile from long time ago, what permitted to ancient civilizations to appear and grow and expand through hundreds of famous cities at that time.

Now we are collecting the negative results of bad events that harmed the green nature and turned the Fertile Crescent across centuries to a low fertility, instead of the name.

The water we are losing as you mentioned, stills to a great amount inside soil, anyone remarks it in the desert from digging wells.

If we do not block rain water in rainy regions and use dams to irrigate the land, as it happened in north Syria, while the greatest amount of water falls on Lebanon and goes straight to the sea, the amounts of water inside soil will dry with time as it happened in Sinai desert.

If we do not carry a large campaign to spread trees on the largest possible area of the Crescent, far away from political motto, any discussion on preserving the environment will be useless.

The message at that point isn’t absolutely an ecologic message, but a reality that citizens know, so what would be their reaction and what would be the action of the aware individuals on that theme?!

Reply

I think your message turned now to a political-national one, after it was mostly environmental.

I can read it and understand it well, since the environment isn’t detached from the national and political status of any nation.

The Fertile Crescent as you know was divided geographically and politically in the first quarter of the twenty’s century, in Sykes-picot treaty and Balfour promise to Jews.

Of course before that the eastern region was annexed by the Shah dynasty and Sinai was annexed by Mahomet the great.

So, if we really want to recuperate our rights on our lands and water and resources, we have to be a nation, and I don’t see how can we recuperate all of this by resistance alone?

Resistance as I know and as I lived since it’s a way of life and thinking too, is enough to hold for a while, or realize some of our national integrity, but realizing our freedom and sovereignty need something else.

I hope your message will be clear to others as it is for me.

NGO

It’s absolutely normal to have NGO’s actions in any society around the world, or else this society wouldn’t be alive with its backwards.

I personally encourage taking any action useful to man, in any field, without standing aside and observing only. But what I said in my previous messages was exposing clearly the fact, and as Raymond already said there isn’t a real and final solution outside recuperating all national rights.
